Brooks hugging Case bye-bye
Monday night Allison and Case came to see us. We met at Texas Tech while pledging Tri-Delt and have been special friends since. Case is two months younger than Brooks and they had so much fun playing together as the mommies played catch-up. After dinner and putting the boys to bed, we had popcorn and milk duds and watched The Notebook. I do believe that it just might be my all time favorite movie and A hadn't seen it..had to give her a hard time about that!! I was very disappointed to find out that the dvd was scratched. It skipped around a bit and we missed a few scenes, but still sooo good. Ryan Gosling is such a cutie!! I ran to Tarjey today and picked up a new one. Tuesday, after a morning of playing, we had lunch at a local pizza place and then they headed home. A, thanks so much for coming to hang out with us..can't wait to do it again soon!!
Don't you just treasure time spent with girlfriends? I do believe it is one of the most awesome gifts that the Lord has given to women. I am so thankful for all of the special girls in my life!!
Next time you go to the movies or have a movie night, try popcorn and mild duds. It is simply delightful..the salty mixed with chocolate and carmel..need I say more?

Happy Weekend Everybody!! We went to my parents house last night so Bryan could help my dad at our farm today. They were burning large piles of brush to get ready for planting new trees. Hubs could not have been any happier doing all things boys, riding four wheelers, watching the fire, spitting, getting dirty, you get my drift. Sooo back on the home front, Baba and Brooksie spent the morning playing and mommy decides she needs to get in a workout on the treadmill. Plug in the ipod..magazine in front of me..ready to get in a good sweat. 20 minutes into the workout, the boys still haven't left yet and are in the backyard getting everything ready, the smart one that I am decides to bend down and look out the window to see what they are doing. Uh ohhh..yes, you guessed it..I loose my balance. If you don't know me or have never seen me, I am 5'10 with really long legs and am very clumsy..have been since I was little. Now, I'm on a treadmill walking at a very fast pace that is on a steep incline..not about to paint a pretty picture. I try to stand back up, but that doesn't work. So as I am falling in slow motion, I'm thinking don't break a leg..oh my goodness you might break a leg..fall so that you don't break a leg. Luckily, I turned a little so that I didn't fall face first but instead on my back. Half of my body was on the floor and half on the machine which then threw the rest of me onto the floor. It makes a loud thud and Brooks and my mom come running in to check on me. Brooks looks at me on the floor and says, "Uh Ohh Mommy"...priceless. Would you like to know what song was playing on my ipod? Justin Timberlake, Sexy back..I guarantee there was nothing sexy about this sweaty girl laying on her back!! Can you imagine if I had been at the gym working out, I'm laughing at the thought of that. I am a trooper and was determined to finish my workout bloody with bruises and all. Do you do stupid things, love to laugh at yourself, please tell me I'm not the only mommy who "falls off of the treadmill"..I'd love to hear your stories!! Moral of this story, don't bend down to look out the window while exercising on the treadmill...it's DANGEROUS!!

Cowboy Brooks with his buddy Cowboy Duncan
Bryan's family
Brooks had a very special birthday on Saturday. I really can't believe my baby turned 2, actually it makes me a little sad. Don't you just wish we could freeze them in time? My sister, Tonya, came into town on Wednesday to help me get ready for the party. She was such a big help, and is just the best sis in the whole world. We started cooking on Friday for the royal feast..I'm mad that I didn't snap any pics of that. Our menu:
Mini burers with a tomato basil mayonaise
Beef empandas served with salsa
Artichoke squares
BBQ Beef lil' smokies
Vegetable tray with homeade ranch
Corn dip
I think the royal feast suited our prince just fine. We also made iced crown sugar cookies for party favors with a pic of Brooks tied to the front of the bag..didn't get a pic of that either. Just didn't get everything checked off of that monsterous to-do list.
I feel so blessed to be Brooks' mommy and thank the good Lord above for giving him to us. He is such a joy to spend each day with and is just full of life. Thanks to all of our family for sharing in his special day with us. It was a blast!!
Also, Brooks shares his birthday with a precious baby girl, Alexee. Her mommy, Jamie holds a very special place in my heart. How awesome that two friends gave birth to two precious babies on the same day!! We are so glad that she had a wonderful 1st birthday!!
