I can be a wee bit crafty...

Today at MOPS, we made(basically scrapbooked) these adorable recipe boxes. I'm not quite finished with mine, and will post final pics when it's complete. It was such a fun craft. Several girls were going to use them to store cards, one girl was making it for her teenage daughter to put "stuff" in. We were talking about how fun those would be for girls to make during a sleepover. Fun idea for you mommies of girls to keep in mind. Jen, Michele, & J Leah aren't you proud of me...I did it!!

*****************
Now, on to a more serious note, mom had her 4 month check-up yesterday with her neurologist. If you are new to this blog my mom had a stroke in September at the age of 56. The doctor was very pleased with how she is doing and didn't make any changes to her meds. BUT, he is sending her to a doctor for her sleep apnea. She has been suffering from this for quite sometime and the breathing machine from the sleep clinic is just not working. He thinks that the hormones that she was taking coupled with her sleep apnea is what caused her stroke. AND could cause her to have another one if she doesn't start sleeping better. She is so young and it is so scary to think of something terrible happening to my precious mom. Talk about rocking me to the core..it brings tears to my eyes thinking about sitting in that hospital room watching her sleep after the stroke and wondering if she would be able to hold and play with my son again...he just loves her to pieces!!
So, if your mothers take hormones..urge them to stop. And if you know anyone who suffers from sleep apnea..get them to the doc---it's really serious!!

Random Brooks pics

Eating yogurt all by myself
I don't like it on my hands
Favorite place to watch cartoons on blue puppy
Now, I sometimes get a little shy when mom takes my picture
Brooks is now running into life as a toddler since turing two. We must do everything by ourself with little to no help from anyone..hence no shirt while eating yogurt. Blue puppy was probably the best purchase we've made..he LOVES it!! Speaking of Brooks, he is waking up from a nap so we're off to dig in the dirt, or hit golf balls. It's a beautiful day in Texas and we need to be outside.

Belated V-Day Post

My sweet sweet Valentine & "future heartbreaker"
Brooks got a balloon this year and a heart sugar cookie
Both of my Valentine's being silly
Flowers from hubs

I got B a Bible..isn't it beautiful
Chocolate covered strawberries..a yearly tradition since we've been married.
Valentine's is a really special holiday for me b/c B & I went on our first date that day. It was nine years ago in Lubbock, Texas..my how time flies. He brought me a single pink rose and we had dinner at Outback. Fast forward to 2008..we spent a really beautiful evening at home with our little Brooksie bear. Bryan cooks for me every year and we don't change up the menu:
Chopped sirloin with Aujus served over rice, crescent rolls, shrimp and queso, and chocolate covered strawberries for desert. Our little family had a fun day and I hope you did too!!
Bryan decided that he wanted to read the Bible in a year and was using his student one from college. I decided he needed a new one and love the one Brooks and I picked out!!
Also, you might be thinking shrimp and queso..yuck!! BUT, it is so yummy. We buy a pound of cooked shrimp from the seafood dept and make queso (velvetta with rotel). Try it sometime, you'd be surprised how great it is.

27 Dresses

Last Thursday, Ame(a new friend) and I had a girls night out and went to see 27 dresses. I thought it was super cute and cracked up during the scene when she was modeling all of the dresses. After I got home, I started thinking about all of the weddings I've been in and the dresses. I've had the honor of standing up for 9 beautiful women..3 childhood friends, 4 college friends, 1 sister, and 1 sister-in-law. Luckily, none of the dresses were hideous like the ones in the movie. Now I'm wishing that I would've kept them...if I have a daughter, how fun would that have been for her to play dress up with. How many times have you been a bridesmaid and do you have a horror story?

Allison & Case

Can you tell Brooks and Case had great fun playing together. My dear friend, Allison

Need I say more about a perfect girls night??

Brooks hugging Case bye-bye

Monday night Allison and Case came to see us. We met at Texas Tech while pledging Tri-Delt and have been special friends since. Case is two months younger than Brooks and they had so much fun playing together as the mommies played catch-up. After dinner and putting the boys to bed, we had popcorn and milk duds and watched The Notebook. I do believe that it just might be my all time favorite movie and A hadn't seen it..had to give her a hard time about that!! I was very disappointed to find out that the dvd was scratched. It skipped around a bit and we missed a few scenes, but still sooo good. Ryan Gosling is such a cutie!! I ran to Tarjey today and picked up a new one. Tuesday, after a morning of playing, we had lunch at a local pizza place and then they headed home. A, thanks so much for coming to hang out with us..can't wait to do it again soon!!

Don't you just treasure time spent with girlfriends? I do believe it is one of the most awesome gifts that the Lord has given to women. I am so thankful for all of the special girls in my life!!

Next time you go to the movies or have a movie night, try popcorn and mild duds. It is simply delightful..the salty mixed with chocolate and carmel..need I say more?

Can we say klutz??

Happy Weekend Everybody!! We went to my parents house last night so Bryan could help my dad at our farm today. They were burning large piles of brush to get ready for planting new trees. Hubs could not have been any happier doing all things boys, riding four wheelers, watching the fire, spitting, getting dirty, you get my drift. Sooo back on the home front, Baba and Brooksie spent the morning playing and mommy decides she needs to get in a workout on the treadmill. Plug in the ipod..magazine in front of me..ready to get in a good sweat. 20 minutes into the workout, the boys still haven't left yet and are in the backyard getting everything ready, the smart one that I am decides to bend down and look out the window to see what they are doing. Uh ohhh..yes, you guessed it..I loose my balance. If you don't know me or have never seen me, I am 5'10 with really long legs and am very clumsy..have been since I was little. Now, I'm on a treadmill walking at a very fast pace that is on a steep incline..not about to paint a pretty picture. I try to stand back up, but that doesn't work. So as I am falling in slow motion, I'm thinking don't break a leg..oh my goodness you might break a leg..fall so that you don't break a leg. Luckily, I turned a little so that I didn't fall face first but instead on my back. Half of my body was on the floor and half on the machine which then threw the rest of me onto the floor. It makes a loud thud and Brooks and my mom come running in to check on me. Brooks looks at me on the floor and says, "Uh Ohh Mommy"...priceless. Would you like to know what song was playing on my ipod? Justin Timberlake, Sexy back..I guarantee there was nothing sexy about this sweaty girl laying on her back!! Can you imagine if I had been at the gym working out, I'm laughing at the thought of that. I am a trooper and was determined to finish my workout bloody with bruises and all. Do you do stupid things, love to laugh at yourself, please tell me I'm not the only mommy who "falls off of the treadmill"..I'd love to hear your stories!! Moral of this story, don't bend down to look out the window while exercising on the treadmill...it's DANGEROUS!!

Brooks had a very special birthday on Saturday. I really can't believe my baby turned 2, actually it makes me a little sad. Don't you just wish we could freeze them in time? My sister, Tonya, came into town on Wednesday to help me get ready for the party. She was such a big help, and is just the best sis in the whole world. We started cooking on Friday for the royal feast..I'm mad that I didn't snap any pics of that. Our menu:

Mini burers with a tomato basil mayonaise

Beef empandas served with salsa

Artichoke squares

BBQ Beef lil' smokies

Vegetable tray with homeade ranch

Corn dip

I think the royal feast suited our prince just fine. We also made iced crown sugar cookies for party favors with a pic of Brooks tied to the front of the bag..didn't get a pic of that either. Just didn't get everything checked off of that monsterous to-do list.

I feel so blessed to be Brooks' mommy and thank the good Lord above for giving him to us. He is such a joy to spend each day with and is just full of life. Thanks to all of our family for sharing in his special day with us. It was a blast!!

Also, Brooks shares his birthday with a precious baby girl, Alexee. Her mommy, Jamie holds a very special place in my heart. How awesome that two friends gave birth to two precious babies on the same day!! We are so glad that she had a wonderful 1st birthday!!
